I’ve always enjoyed wheatgrass. Maybe it started 15 years ago when I had my first job in high school at a smoothie store. I mean nothing is more delicious than a green – very green – liquid going down smooth, and tasting like grass! You may be thinking “yeah right”, but seriously once you get past the color, it isn’t all that bad (if you enjoy grass). Now a new “green” trend is upon us and I decided to try it out.I’m talking about green smoothies.
Green smoothies have been around for a while, but have really only gained momentum in
the past couple years with the help of celebrity endorsements. Celebrities that have been sighted doing the green smoothie trend include: Liv Tyler, Alicia Silverstone, Woody Harrelson, Megan Fox, and Gwyneth Paltrow to name a few. In an attempt to live healthier, a friend of mine started drinking green smoothies about a year ago. I recently decided I wanted to try one and a couple weeks ago she helped me blend my first green smoothie with this simple recipe.
Bri’s Green Smoothie Recipe (makes one glass):
4 oz. Carrot Juice
4 oz. Water
3 frozen strawberries
1 frozen banana (it’s easier to peel first, and then freeze)
2 h
and fulls of spinach (about 4 cups)
1 tablespoon honey
We blended everything and poured ourselves a couple glasses. All though it didn’t taste horrible, I felt like it was missing something (queue cheesy inspirational music), and then as if my brain recalled a lost memory from 15 years ago, I heard myself saying,
“Would you like a boost with that?”
Absolutely! I dumped my cup back in the blender and added a scoop of vanilla My Victory. I was way more surprised at the result than what I expected. It changed the color of the smoothie from a green – very green – to a slightly green (way more tolerable to drink) and even changed to consistency making it smoother. The taste was also better with the slight hint of vanilla, masking any carrot taste (yes, I hate carrots).
I’m a believer in Nu Skin’s My Victory, and now I found a great way to drink it. I feel healthier, have more energy, and I’m excited to see if my Biophotonic scanner score will increase. Have you tried My Victory with your green smoothie? Tell us what you think and share your favorite recipes with us in the comments section below.
